Software introduction

    And often reading what contents it bears;

Halloween is coming up and developer Pine Entertainment (creator of Century City) is getting in the mood with a new horror game called Aya.

It has you playing as the titular young woman as she ventures through the dark crypt-like mazes of Satan. That's what happens when you mess with the big red dude, I guess.

There are 13 levels in total, all full with haunting demons to dodge, and the only proper source of light being Aya's lantern.

As with any horror game, sound plays a big part in Aya, as you'll need to listen out for those demons as they near. Once you hear something unsettling get the hell out of there.

If you're up for a scare then you can purchase Aya for £1.49 / $1.99 on the App Store right now.

Light the Fires is the first game from Dead Five, a studio recently created by a team of five (living) developers who have collectively worked on over a hundred games.

A series of puzzles based around fire and ignition, Light the Fires uses the 'micro movement' style recently popularised by the emerging hypercasual genre to create an interesting, well-rounded game. What its rather simple title doesn't explain is that you'll be blasting through walls and objects in order to clear a path for the flame, or using it to ignite moving objects, in order to reach your goal.

As with many mobile games, it's all very tactile, however, the drag and drop mechanics that have been used really work well with the simple appearance of the game. It certainly impressed the judges at our October 2020 Big Indie Pitch, where it won the Gold Prize ahead of all of the other entrants.
'Nor gives it satisfaction to our blood

    Anne looked at him remorsefully; then she slipped down on the rug beside him and laid her glossy red head on his arm.
"It--did--once," admitted Anne, feeling that she might say so much.

    &#;
Ukrainian studio Beatshapers has been working on various virtual reality titles for some time now, and looks like it'll be ready and waiting with a launch game for Sony's highly anticipated VR headset, the Morpheus.

But the indie developer is evidently impatient, and has been experimenting with all kinds of VR hardware, going as far as to create its own using electrical tape and a PlayStation Vita.
The PS VR-ta
“This was definitely a year of virtual reality for us,” Beatshaper's Alexey Menshikov tells Pushsquare. “We got all of the VR headsets that we could get our hands on, and spent several months working on experiments with various gameplay styles, genres, camera perspectives, and player placement."

This experimentation took a DIY turn when the team was looking into mobile VR solutions, and decided it was worth researching the Vita's potential as a similar option to the Gear VR's Note 4.

And apparently it worked very nicely. “We made a quick concept proof prototype with basic geometric graphics, but this had amazing results,” says Menshikov.

The Vita has the benefit of fast hardware, very accurate motion sensing (for head tracking) and has a control option that no other VR system can boast; the rear touchpad. The display doesn't really have a high enough resolution, especially when it's so close to your eyeballs, but otherwise this was apparently a successful test.

Beatshapers says it'll continue with the experiment, time depending, as it's busy working on its virtual reality game EdgeVR.
